Fuel Cell Course

Many people don’t know that a fuel cell is an electro-chemical cell which is able to convert the chemical energy from a fuel to electrical energy. You can only begin to imagine the impact the science studying this may have on general development and planetary economy. More and more student would like to focus their studies on fuel cells, but they don’t know what university to choose and where to begin their process of looking for such a course.

While a few years ago it would have been really difficult for a student to be able to find a university that had fuel cell courses in its curriculum, precisely because there were so few of them, now anyone who’s interested can find such courses in various universities across the U.S. and in Europe too. Not only one can major in fuel cells and fuel cell related technologies, but there are plenty of research centers too.

The University of California hosts a National Fuel Cell Research Center, which is the oldest and the most renowned research center in the United States. Here work some of the top specialists in this field and they conduct various research programs concerning fuel cell systems, fuel cell components, market research and different types of analysis concerning fuel cells. Also, in Connecticut, there’s the Connecticut Global Fuel Cell Center, with programs available to students. They use cutting edge technology and have very good labs as well as impressive resources dedicated to this very purpose. Some of the top fuel cell companies in the U.S. are based in Connecticut.

Not so long ago, Kettering University, which is based in Michigan, received a substantial grant from the EDA, the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development administration, so that they can build a new center for fuel cell studies and research and also for power integration research.

Moreover, Ohio is one of the states that invest most in fuel cell research and the Case Western Reserve University is involved in many such programs and offers its students the chance to study and major in these subjects. Also, if you’re interested in fuel cells, Stark State College, Ohio, could be an option on your list too.

If you’ve already taken courses on fuel cells, maybe you would like to consider some summer classes. Most universities that teach this subject organize summer courses for beginners and advanced students. You might also want to check out the options to do an M. Sc. or your PhD in fuel cell research. The universities that have this subject in their curriculum and that provide the students with the chance to major in it are also very likely to have M. Sc. and PHD programs.
